Joe Hesketh is a successful contemporary artist of great originality. She works in part of an old mill in Barrowford a small Lancashire village.
She works constantly and has built a momentum which
is now paying off. Joe is an oil painter and her work is big with an
expressive composition, there is a strange beauty to her work but
with sinister overtones and also humor.
She paints without soft focus
and an overwhelmingly display of colour yet she shows life and her
work in the raw.
Joe is based in Pendle at Higherford Mill Barrowford in Pendle.
Joe sells her work predominately via galleries but also undertakes private commissions.
In the world of magic nothing happens unless someone want's it to, I
would just like something to happen in the mind of the viewer, some
kind of connection. For me, that's what it's all about.
My work isn't a separate pursuit from reality, it simply pursues it's
own willful way.
Thoughts and shapes flow into my mind then in to my note book, a
result of being affected by most things around.
Once the connection is made with the canvas it becomes quite
meditative, ideas just come to me, but sometimes it's a long haul to
get to that spot.
